Organizational Alignment
Organizational alignment is the intentional execution of a corporate mission and vision along strategic and cultural paths to obtain desired results. Leadership has a key role in bringing cohesiveness among these two parallel paths. With Strategy considered the driving path and culture the guiding path, leadership is responsible to influence how well the two work together. Organizational alignment is essential for achieving high outcomes now and in the future. Without alignment, even the best strategic plan will not be fully achieved because, in the words credited to Peter Drucker, “culture eats strategy for breakfast.”
"Building a visionary company requires one percent vision and 99 percent alignment."
~ James C. Collins, Author
Understanding Organizational Alignment
Misaligned vs. Unaligned
Misaligned and unaligned have similar meanings and are often used interchangeably. It is important to understand how OA Resources distinguishes the difference. If something is misaligned, a correct alignment exists; it is just not being adhered to. If something is unaligned, there may be no correct or existing alignment; or the alignment is not in its correct relative position. If the alignment is not in the correct relative position, then a realignment is necessary. If there is no correct or existing alignment, then a new alignment must be created.
Correcting Misalignments
We know that an aligned organization performs better with less effort, improved results, and an engaged workforce. Just as humans periodically experience a lack a harmony, organizations encounter times of misalignment. The signs of misalignment may be subtle or overt, occasional or chronic, and intuitive or apparent; regardless of the indicators, the organization is unable to function at its optimum level. Our goal is to identify the cause(s) of misalignment and return momentum to your organization.
“If you are not getting the results you want, it is due to misalignment somewhere in the organization, and no pushing, pulling, demanding, or insisting will change a misalignment.”
~ Stephen R. Covey, Author
Shaping Realignments
As much as one tries to plan and maintain the pulse of an organization, sometimes the best laid plans can be disrupted. Changing market conditions and other external events are unforeseen environmental circumstances that can generate a strategic need for organizational realignment. OA Resources works in partnership with clients to strategically realign an organization when faced with challenges that adversely affect their organization.
Creating New Alignments
Through discipline and focus, creating new alignments is a way to advance an organization in a proactive manner. OA Resources believes operational effectiveness and growth strategies are the foundation of new organizational alignments that can increase momentum for your organization.
